Whip Mix Acquires Jelrus Burnout Oven Product Line

Whip Mix is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Jelrus burnout oven product line from Air Techniques, Inc.  Whip Mix will be responsible for the manufacturing, sales and repairs for both in and out of warranty for the Jelrus Infinity and P.D.Q Digital Single-Stage burnout ovens and distribution will continue through a global dealer network.

Jelrus, the dental laboratory division of Air Techniques, has a proven record of providing well built, dependable lab equipment and the acquisition enhances the existing Whip Mix Furnace product line, said Whip Mix Vice President of Corporate Services, David Steinbock.  Rich Povak, President, Air Techniques added, “We want to see the Jelrus burnout ovens continue to be a fixture in dental labs for many years to come.  Lou Brooks would be proud.”

Whip Mix Hosts Dealer Training Event

Whip Mix hosted six of its top dealer representatives for product training on November 10^th through the 12^th .  Participants learned about Lost Wax Casting, Whip Mix Equipment, LEAN and Gypsum products in addition to new products.  They also participated in a “hands-on” training which included model and die preparation and waxing, spruing, investing and equipment programing.

To close out dealer training, attendees enjoyed a tour of the manufacturing facility before heading to Churchill Downs for an afternoon of racing.

Whip Mix Holds Annual Lean Education Symposium of Dental Technology

On September 23-24 Lab owners, technicians and industry leaders gathered in Louisville, KY for the Lean Education Symposium of Dental Technology presented by the Whip Mix Corporation.

Over the two day symposium attendees learned the impact of how LEAN concepts and principles transformed dental labs creating higher efficiency while improving quality. Keynote speaker, Nicholas Katko, CPA, discussed how labs can increase capacity by reducing waste. Attendees also took part in a panel discussion with lab owners and manager who have made lean transformation in their own laboratories.

Whip Mix also recognized labs that have implemented successful LEAN transformation in their labs and are committed to continuous improvement. Edmonds Dental Prosthetics received the 2010 “Superior Award for Operational Excellence”, Perry & Young was award the 2010 “Outstanding Award for Operational Excellence” and Creative Expressions was awarded the 2010 “Rookie Award for Operational Excellence. All recipients of the awards have demonstrated excellence in implementing LEAN management and LEAN manufacturing principles into their Laboratory practices.

Whip Mix Corporation will hold it’s annual Lean Education Symposium of Dental Technology September 23-24, 2010 in Louisville, Ky. The Lean system is designed to improve quality, reduce delays and total costs by emphasizing the prevention of waste allowing the lab to gain additional capacity for production.
