5 Things To Do While In Chicago for the Mid-Winter Dental Meetings

In just a few days dental professionals from around the country and the world will converge in Chicago for the annual Mid-Winter dental meetings. While many of you will most likely be occupied during the day attending meetings and continuing education courses, don’t forget to leave time to experience all the great things the city has to offer. Below is a list of just a few of the many activities you can do while you are in the city:
1. Visit a Museum
If you are looking to take in some art, culture, nature and history during your stay, Chicago has you covered with its vast assortment of museums. A few of the most popular museums include, the Field Museum of Natural History, Adler Planateruim, the Shedd Aquarium and the Art Institute of Chicago.
2. Go to Navy Pier
While probably a more popular destination during the warmer months, this iconic pier has something for everyone year-round. While you won’t be able to ride the Ferris wheel, you are still able to eat at the restaurants or view an Imax movie to name a few. On Saturday, February 27 in the Grand Ballroom Navy Pier is hosting the 4th Annual Cider Summit. The Cider Summit will feature over 140 ciders including regional favorites and international classics from countries such as England, Scotland, France, and Spain.
3. Attend a Blackhawks or Bulls Game
Chicago is home to three professional sports team spanning football (The Bears), basketball (The Bulls), and hockey (Blackhawks). While the football season just ended, you can still catch a Blackhawks or a Bulls game.

No doubt the one thing everyone experience is the Chicago food scene. The city has everything to offer from fine dining to the famous Chicago style deep dish pizza. Some of the top restaurants in Chicago, according to Yelp, include Hub 51, Bandera Restaurant and Au Cheval. Looking for some famous deep dish pizza, I always recommend Giordano’s and Lou Malnati’s. If you are looking for a sweet treat, you have to try Garrett’s Popcorn, whether it’s one of their traditional flavors or seasonal recipes like Spicy Cheesecorn.
5. Shop the Magnificent Mile
A trip to Chicago isn’t complete without a little shopping. The 13-block stretch of North Michigan Avenue is home to 460 stores and 275 restaurants, there is sure to be something for everyone.
