Technical Resources

Most are unaware that this needs doing on occasion. Non-lubrication is often the cause of the tightness between the paddle and the lid.

  1. Remove the drive nut by grasping the paddle and then using a laboratory knife or a large screwdriver placed in the slot of the drive nut.
  2. Turn to loosen and then remove the drive nut.
  3. Now that the drive nut is off, pull the paddle shaft from the lid.
  4. You will notice two ‘O’ rings (#1 ‘O’ ring for the 200, 300, & 500 bowls) on the paddle shaft, you may wish to replace these.
  5. Then using Whip Mix Lubriplate (a white silicone grease) coat the paddle shaft and ‘O’ rings.
  6. Replace paddle shaft into the lid and replace the drive nut.

Instructions for checking or replacing the O ring on the Lid of the Vac-u-Mixer.
• Remove the O ring gently from the Lid.  Wipe the O ring off with a clean lightly damp cloth to be sure there is no debris on it.
• Look in the location where the O ring was seated to make sure there is no debris or excess plastic pieces where the O ring seats.  Clean out if you see any.
• If you have a small tube of our #4079 Lubriplate you can very lightly reapply a small around the whole O ring.
• When reseating the O ring for proper placement on the Lid, you will need to place and push the O ring crossing alternating sides in opposite areas to begin to push O Ring into position.  See Example below.
• Example: use this clock order for it to seat properly:  First start working the O ring into position at the 12 o’clock position, then go next to 6 o’clock to work it in, then 3’oclock, and next at 9’oclock, then work the ring to the 2 to 8, 1 to 4 positions and continue to alternate sides to work the seal completely in place.
• Next place Lid on bowl and twist slightly to make sure the O ring is set in position.  By now you should have the O ring fitting smoothly and evenly in the Lid.  Reattach the vac-u-mixer to the machine and continue to hold the bowl.
• Select your program number, and then push the start/stop button.
• While holding the bowl watch the front screen for the small arrows to move all the way across from right to left.  Once the arrows have gone completely across you will have suction.  Now you can let go of the bowl.
• Once your program mix is done, the machine will beep for you to come and put your hand underneath the bowl.  Push start/stop button and the machine will release the vac-u-mixer into your hand.  Your machine is working.
*If checking the O ring on the vac-u-mixer that does not fix your problem, then be sure to check the large black O ring on the edge of the Block.

Instructions for checking or replacing the large O ring on the edge of the Block.
• Turn the VPM2 off and unplug it.
• Lay the VPM2 down on the machines back.
• Look at the Block edge to see the large black O ring.
• Remove the O ring gently from the Block.  See manual for Block picture on page 4 and instructions on page 9.
• Wipe the O ring off with a clean damp cloth to be sure there is no debris on it.
• Look to make sure there is no debris where the O ring goes.  Clean out if you see any.
• If you have a small tube of our #4079 Lubriplate you can very lightly reapply a small around the whole O ring.
When reseating the O ring back in its slot on the Block, do not push it in one complete circular direction because the seal will not seat properly.
• For proper Block O ring placement, you will need to place and push the O ring crossing alternating sides in opposite areas to begin to push O Ring into position.  See example below.
Example: use this clock order for seating the large O ring properly:  First start working the O ring into position at the 12 o’clock position, then go next to 6 o’clock to work it in, then 3’oclock, and next at 9’oclock, then work the ring to the 2 to 8, 1 to 4 positions and continue to alternate sides to work the seal completely in place.   By now you should have the O ring fitting smoothly and evenly in the Block.
• Tip your VPM2 into its upright position.
• To test take the VPM2 vac-u- mixer (lid bowl and paddle) put some water in the bowl; place the lid with paddle on the bowl.
• Attach the vacuum mixer as you hold and support the bottom of the bowl.  Continue to support the bottom of the bowl pushing upward as you turn the whole vac-u- mixer just slightly. That helps to make sure the seal is flattened correctly.
• Continue to hold the vac-u-mixer in place as you turn the VPM2 machine on.
• Select your program and push the start/stop button.
